Marissa is the owner of Malika Sports and oversees all aspects of the Hoop N Surf and Kick N Surf Classics once teams are contracted to play. Any questions regarding the islands or the tournaments can be directed to her.

Maaske received her Bachelor of Science from Doane College (NE) in 1996 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Slippery Rock University (PA) in 2000. Her first visit to Hawaii was in 1994 with the Doane Women’s Basketball team. She found much success at Doane leading her team to the final four of the national women’s basketball tournament and finishing her collegiate career as a Kodak All-American.

During graduate school, Maaske spent four months interning at a rehabilitation hospital in Honolulu and fell in love with the island lifestyle. Upon graduation she relocated to Hawaii to work as a physical therapist. She then teamed up with her former college coach, Gene Steinmeyer, to create the first Hoop N Surf Classic. The business has expanded to include soccer tournaments and other sports will soon follow.

Maaske works as a physical therapist at Action Rehab, a private outpatient orthopedic clinic in Honolulu.  She spends her free time playing basketball, soccer, surfing, hiking and traveling.
